Hiking the Hudson Valley

Since last weekend was a long one, Derek and I thought it would be fun to use Saturday as a chance to get out of the city for a bit. We had been chatting about wanting to hike somewhere upstate, so when we found the Breakneck Ridge Trail, and read it was accessible by train, we knew it’d be the perfect mini getaway.

Exploring Cape Cod

I know I shared a few photos from our recent road-trip up to Martha’s Vineyard, but I just couldn’t resist posting some of the others captured throughout our trip to Cape Cod. As I mentioned earlier, neither one of us had been to the Cape before, so we didn’t even know what to expect. I had images in my mind of cute little beach towns, fresh seafood platters, and windy walks on the beach. Turns out, it was pretty much just like that. Except better!

A Weekend in Martha’s Vineyard

As exciting as it can be living in New York, to be honest, sometimes nothing beats escaping for a bit. And that is exactly what Derek and I did not too long ago. Our alarm woke us up bright and early Saturday morning, and we hit the road up north. Neither one of us had ever been to Cape Cod so we decided it was time to see what this little slice of heaven was all about. With not a single expectation in mind, we were blown away! So much beauty everywhere you looked.

Maine, Day Three

Back in the planning stages of our trip, one of Derek’s coworkers mentioned how we just had to visit the Botanical Gardens before returning from Maine. And boy am I glad we took the time to make that detour. It would have been a huge regret if we hadn’t.

It was hard for me to blink my eyes with all the beauty taking place around us. From the fiery bolts of red, to the golden hues of yellow and orange, the trees certainly spoiled us with the perfect fall foliage. I have no doubt in my mind we picked the best weekend to venture Maine. And hiking all over the gardens proved it.

Maine, Day Two

So I know I shared the photos from day one of our Maine adventure here, which consisted of Portland, Maine (check it out if you haven’t!) but I also wanted to post the ones from our second day.

This one was probably my favorite day of the entire trip because we made our way to the beautiful, Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. I had visited this park about ten or so years ago when we took a family vacation to Maine, but it wasn’t until this go-around that I recognized all of the astounding beauty this hidden gem bestows.

Maine, Day One

I’m so excited to finally have some time to post photos from our most recent road-trip to Maine. It still kind of blows my mind that this trip has come and gone. However, it was one of those much-needed mini vacations. While we didn’t have much time, and a lot of that was spent driving, every minute of scenic views made it all worth it.

I definitely believe in the saying, “you never know what you have until it’s gone.” I think one of the hardest things about living in New York is the whole no-car-only-subway part. I remember being so ready to sell my car and move up here, and now Derek and I find ourselves becoming giddy at the idea of a simple car ride. While I’ve gotten used to being packed into a subway car like a can of sardines, it’s definitely not my idea of a joy ride.
