An Epic Long Weekend in Portland, Oregon

portland-oregon-travel

Not too long ago, Derek and I hopped on a plane for a short hour-or-so flight to spend a long weekend in Portland. And man oh man, what an epic adventure this mini getaway turned out to be. From the delicious farm-to-table cuisine (read: food trucks everywhere) to the delightful balance of vibrant-city-life-meets-incredible-and-accessible-nature, I now […]

Upstate Apple Picking

I know I already mentioned about Derek and I went apple picking while upstate exploring the Catskills, but since we had so many photos from this little detour, I couldn’t help but dedicate an entire post to it. What an afternoon to remember! For starters, the weather was just gorgeous. Clear blue skies. The warmth of the sun’s rays shining down. And that hint of chill just cool enough to remind us fall was officially in the air.

A Weekend in The Catskills

Not too many weekends ago, Derek and I made the two-hour drive up north to explore the beautiful Catskills region. It practically took guzzling down my body weight in iced coffee before my brain entered functioning mode.

Summer in The North Fork

Bright and early last Sunday morning, Derek and I set out to spend the day cruising around several little towns nestled in the north end of Long Island, NY. It didn’t take long before this area, called The North Fork, stole both our hearts. We instantly fell in love with so many things about this delightful place. The wide, open spaces. The acres upon acres of farmland. The slower, small-town pace in everyone’s steps. Oh, and the hospitality all the locals put forth. For a moment there, I thought we had somehow transported ourselves back to North Carolina!

48 Hours in Chicago

The end of June was a monumental weekend for Derek and me, considering it was our first anniversary since we said our “I do’s.” Yeah, I can’t believe it either! Those 365 days sure did fly, but man what a magical 52 weeks! This past year of marriage wasn’t all glamorous, but oh what an incredible adventure it was. And to celebrate, we couldn’t think of a better way than to take a trip! Since neither one of us had every explored Chicago, but always wanted to, it seemed like the perfect choice.
