A Weekend in The Catskills

Not too many weekends ago, Derek and I made the two-hour drive up north to explore the beautiful Catskills region. We had been wanting to visit this area for quite some time, but knew it was only fitting to save this mini getaway for the fall when the leaves were beginning to change. Somehow, we managed to choose the perfect weekend for this upstate excursion, as the mountains were lit up with golden hues, and the weather was just absolutely gorgeous the entire 48 hours we spent roaming around.

Maine, Day Three

Back in the planning stages of our trip, one of Derek’s coworkers mentioned how we just had to visit the Botanical Gardens before returning from Maine. And boy am I glad we took the time to make that detour. It would have been a huge regret if we hadn’t.

It was hard for me to blink my eyes with all the beauty taking place around us. From the fiery bolts of red, to the golden hues of yellow and orange, the trees certainly spoiled us with the perfect fall foliage. I have no doubt in my mind we picked the best weekend to venture Maine. And hiking all over the gardens proved it.

Maine, Day Two

So I know I shared the photos from day one of our Maine adventure here, which consisted of Portland, Maine (check it out if you haven’t!) but I also wanted to post the ones from our second day.

This one was probably my favorite day of the entire trip because we made our way to the beautiful, Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. I had visited this park about ten or so years ago when we took a family vacation to Maine, but it wasn’t until this go-around that I recognized all of the astounding beauty this hidden gem bestows.

Maine, Day One

I’m so excited to finally have some time to post photos from our most recent road-trip to Maine. It still kind of blows my mind that this trip has come and gone. However, it was one of those much-needed mini vacations. While we didn’t have much time, and a lot of that was spent driving, every minute of scenic views made it all worth it.

I definitely believe in the saying, “you never know what you have until it’s gone.” I think one of the hardest things about living in New York is the whole no-car-only-subway part. I remember being so ready to sell my car and move up here, and now Derek and I find ourselves becoming giddy at the idea of a simple car ride. While I’ve gotten used to being packed into a subway car like a can of sardines, it’s definitely not my idea of a joy ride.

Bike Riding in Central Park

Sunday morning was an early one, but with good reason. Derek and I woke up at the crack of dawn to make our way to Central Park for a much anticipated bike ride. I’m sure you’re wondering why we’d wake up so early for bike riding, when that’s an activity you can do at any time of the day. Well, good question: We wanted to beat the crowd and enjoy the park without the flood of people rolling in.

A Manhattan Helicopter Tour

With a little help from Groupon, Derek and I were able to score two tickets for a helicopter tour all around Manhattan. This idea had been something we’d been wanting to do for some time now. So when I noticed the deal online a few weeks ago, I knew instantly we couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

The tour was phenomenal. Even better than expected.
