Roller coasters. Ferris wheels. Funnel cakes. And in this case, a candy-colored chairlift. Is it just me or does a boardwalk along the beach scream “summer”? Let’s see, you’ve got a thriving amusement park on one side, and then a lively beach scene on the other. Yeah, it’s a good time.
And not too long ago, Derek and I had just that. After itching to check out Santa Cruz’s waterfront boardwalk for quite some time, we hit the road and made our way down south via Hwy 1. With extra blue skies, a glowing sun, and temperatures in the low 70s, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
Although we spent more time roaming the beach and curling our toes in the warm sand than we did perusing the bustling boardwalk, it was still so much fun taking in all the vibrant hues of the amusement park. And with over 300 rides (!!) right on a mile-long stretch sandy beach, talk about a kid’s dreamland.
Below are some pictures I managed to snap during our afternoon, if you’re interested.
Hope you’re having an adventure-filled summer!
