Across the Bay at Angel Island

An Angel Island Adventure

If you look out our kitchen window, you’ll see it. A monstrous island rising out of the water of the San Francisco Bay.  So big in fact, you won’t be able to miss it. While it appears to be secluded, after one click on Google you’ll quickly realize this island has quite a lot to offer. Abundant hiking trails. Sweeping panoramic views of both the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco’s downtown skyline. And of course, lots and lots of fresh air.

Yep, Angel Island is a true treasure. And after nine months of calling San Francisco home, Derek and I finally made our way over to explore this cherished piece of the Bay. Such a fun time!

If you’re in the city and are looking for a quick adventure, Angel Island is the way to go. It’s a lovely escape from the city hustle, and allows you to sync back up with nature without getting too far away. Not to mention, unless you own a boat or kayak, you’ll have to hop aboard a ferry from Pier 41 in San Francisco, providing for the perfect excuse to sail across the Bay.

Now I wish we had time while we were there to visit Angel Island!! Are there a lot of trails to hike? It looked big when we took the ferry past it from Sausilito. Or just one trail?

    • Ah, just another reason for you two to come back and visit! There are several hikes you can make on Angel Island. We only spent about half the day here, but you can definitely camp on the island and make a weekend out of it 🙂
