I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. Derek is in Austin, TX for SXSW until Tuesday so I’m here holding down the fort in San Francisco. This morning I was awakened by the long, low-sounding wails of the Bay’s foghorn. Because we live within earshot of the Golden Gate Bridge, these feeble whimpers are familiar sounds we’ve become accustomed to. After dragging myself out of my own cloud of warmth — aka our fluffy duvet — I made my way to the window overlooking the Bay only to notice we were completely enveloped in a blanket of fog.
Hours have passed and yet the layer of fog has still not lifted. If I didn’t know better, I never would guess the Golden Gate Bridge is to my left and Alcatraz Island is straight ahead. And yet, something about these low-lying stratus clouds soothes me. They bring about a sense of stillness to the mind, as if the door to the world beyond the fog has been temporarily closed, forcing me to shift my focus solely on what’s in front of me — the present.
The truth is I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately. And by lately I’m referring to the last couple of months. Thinking. Soul-Searching. Whatever you want to call it — I’ve been doing it. While I can’t get into the nitty-gritty of my findings today in this particular blog post, I am looking forward to sharing more (okay, all of it!) with you in the coming weeks when I can dive head first in all the details.
But for now, I can tell you this: the time has come for more. Time to take more action. Time to be more present. Time to do more of what makes me happy. Time to make change. More to come, I promise!
As for now, below are some seven fun things around the web I’m fancying on this Sunday.
7 Fun Things:
- AMEN! Everyone (male and female) should read this article!
- Teachers are truly are special treasures.
- A beautiful dose of inspiration.
- 9 Trader Joe’s staples.
- This might just be my new favorite place in the city. Hint: cats!
- STOP the comparison, once and for all.
- San Francisco, then and now. You’ve got to see the picture of the Golden Gate Bridge!
Cheers to a wonderful week ahead!
