Once we said our goodbyes to all the sheep in the Lake District, we continued on our way to Scotland. We spent most of our time in Edinburgh, and I’m so happy we did. This city was just so much to explore.
For starters, we quickly found out Edinburgh is the perfect size. While it isn’t technically walkable — we used the bus a lot! — you can see so much of the city in just a few days. Thank goodness for that, since we only had 72 hours here. Not to mention this city has so much to offer. You’ve got rocky hills. You’ve got a calm sea. You’ve got some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. And let’s not forget about all the castles. I’m telling you, there is so much begging to be discovered.
Talk about a room with a view. We had a stunning view of Arthur’s Seat right outside our bedroom window. It was so delightful waking up to that gorgeous hilltop. Another Airbnb win in the books!
The hike to the top was desperately calling our names, so as soon as we settled into our new home, we made our way to the trail base. It wasn’t but five minutes in that we realized this hill was a lot steeper than it looked…
Ah, but the beauty surrounding us was just breathtaking. Everything around was SO green. It was as if the grass was just glowing, illuminated by the sun’s rays. Just gorgeous!!
The hike was no doubt worth the climb, and if you’re ever in this amazing city, I urge you to embark on this trail yourself! Believe me, as soon as you reach the top, you’ll know why.
Everywhere I looked, I couldn’t help but smile. There were panoramic viewpoints in each direction.
There were so many beautiful buildings and monuments perched high atop steep peaks.
I can’t even begin to describe the beauty of the castle. There she was, sitting so high, silhouetted by a cloudy sky and looking all dreamy. I can only imagine the royals she has hosted and housed over the years. Oh, to be a fly on the wall within her doors…
While Derek and I were blown away by the mesmerizing landscapes from up above, down below the city was just as captivating.
It just doesn’t get more Scottish than this…!
We even found the cutest little Scottish kitty.
After leaving Edinburgh, our next stop was Glasgow. Unfortunately, we were only in this city for one day and Mother Nature decided this day was going to be full of pouring rain. So, we hardly were able to take any photos. Bummer, I know. But I did manage to snap the one below. Glasgow had some of the prettiest murals I have EVER seen. Just check out this photo. Doesn’t it look like a straight up photograph!?
Scotland, you sure are one beautiful country. Thank you for all the wonderful adventures. Until we meet again, my friend!
