If there is one thing I love about living in New York (well, luckily there are quite a few things!) it is how good the thrifting can be. Antique stores. Flea markets. Street vendors. You name it, this city probably has it. Times ten! And the best part is how different all the vendors are, so you never really know what you might come across. So many unique and hidden gems, just waiting to be discovered. All you really need is a pair of open eyes & an ounce of patience, and you might just hit the jackpot. Not to mention the fun in haggling down the prices. I don’t know if it’s from all the flea markets my Dad would drag my sisters and me to on the weekends growing up or what, but the haggle has always been one of my favorite parts of the entire shebang!
And then there’s this beauty below. For years (literally!) I have been on the search for a vintage type-writer. Then, without any expectation, Derek and I walked into a re-sale store, and BAM. It appeared right before my eyes. Of course, we had to buy it. But poor Derek had to carry it all the way home on the subway. And to say it was heavy would be an understatement. I felt really bad about it, I did. But I just couldn’t let this treasure go!
