Well, the Brooklyn half marathon is rapidly approaching, so that means our practice runs have been getting longer. And longer. Instead of running the loop around the park that is two blocks from our apartment over and over again, Derek and I have been trying to get creative with our longer runs. You know, to add some excitement. Well, I don’t really know how running 10+ miles can be exciting, but you get the idea.
Last Saturday we decided to wake up at the crack of dawn and run across both the Brooklyn Bridge & the Manhattan Bridge. The perks of waking up early in this city, well you get to see it without all the mobs of people that’s usually flooding the sidewalks. So in that case, the run was quite enjoyable!
And after the 10-miler, well nothing sounded better than a gigantic, homemade strawberry muffin, basically the size of Derek’s hand. With mint streusel I might add. Hmm, the joys of training — basically feeling no guilt for stuffing your face with carbs!
