The Lights at Dyker Heights

Since the weather was surprisingly still very warm last weekend, Derek and I thought it’d be the perfect time to hop on the R-train and go see the lights at Dyker Heights. Neither one of us had ever seen this light show before, but apparently it’s a really big deal. So many “mcmansions” decked out in professionally decorated light displays. Yes, you read that right…professionally decorated!

Hiking to Machu Picchu

Hiking the 4-day Inca Trail was no doubt one of the hardest things I’ve done during my 24 years on this earth. When Derek and I began plotting and planning this trip back in March, neither one of us really knew what to expect. While I’d consider us quite “outdoorsy”, we had never done anything this extreme before. I mean, I knew making this trek would be by no means a walk in the park. But, man did it kick our tails, in the best way possible, of course. Looking back though, I wouldn’t have a changed a single thing about it.

New York Lately

It sure has been quite a while since I shared a “life lately” post. And with so much that has taken place over these past few weeks, I thought now would be a perfect time to share just that. Can you believe Christmas is only a week away?! My mind is still trying to process that statement. I still cannot believe our Peruvian adventure has come and gone, and the fact that we’re now halfway through December, well it’s truly shocking. Via Ferrata in The Sacred Valley

While in Cusco, before our trek to Machu Picchu began, Derek and I took a via-ferrata and zip-lining excursion outside the city in the Sacred Valley. Before this particular afternoon, neither one of us had a clue of what via ferrata even was. However, we knew we loved zip-lining so since it was a packaged deal, we didn’t hesitate when signing up.

Christmas Down 5th Avenue

Apparently, a big “tourist” thing to do during Christmas time here in the city is walk down 5th Avenue to take in all the beautiful light displays. Several people had mentioned this route to me earlier in the year, and I thought “why have Derek and I never done this before!?” So, to make sure we didn’t miss out again this year, we decided to make the walk last Wednesday night after work.

Exploring Cusco, Peru

Wow. As I sit here clicking through our countless photos of Peru, I am trying to wrap my head around the fact that this adventure has already come and gone. I can still vividly remember back in March when I first brought up the idea to Derek of hiking Machu Picchu. Now, here we are, eight months later, and somehow that dream has now turned into a memory. Yet, as I reminisce back to the nine days we spent exploring Peru, I cannot help but grin from ear to ear.
