I can still vividly remember all the nerves that were rapidly flowing through my veins the day of our wedding. Bits of excitement and pieces of anxiety. The day I had dreamed of for so, so long, and the day so many of us had spent planning for was finally here.
I remember waking up before sunrise that day, just so I could have a moment alone to take in all of my surroundings —not like I could really sleep the night before anyways! As I stood out on our pier taking in the calm, still water, having a warm cup of coffee in one hand and my vows in the other, so many thoughts flooded my mind. So many, I could barely process them all. Yet the one thought that fully sunk in was the idea of seeing Derek under those beautiful, big oak trees at 5:30 p.m. that afternoon. Just the thought of that kind of made all the other little nerves fade away.
As I explained here, I never would have imagined it raining the day of our ceremony. Others thought it was crazy we hadn’t created a “plan B,” but in my mind the day was going to happen the way God had planned for it to. And that it did. And honestly, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Exchanging our vows and having our first kiss in the rain was not only one of the most magical moments in my life thus far, but it also is one that we will always remember. And I felt even more blessed when I looked out into the audience, and saw so many of our loved ones embracing the rain as well.
I know I stated this when I shared Part One of the wedding photos, but I wanted to once again thank the talented team at Blueberry Creative for all of their hard work and efforts in capturing the true essence of our wedding. These photographs truly tell the story of the entire day, every single detail, and we are so grateful to forever have these cherished images. Not to mention the phenomenal video …which we constantly watch on the regular! These guys are truly one-of-a-kind artists, and we look forward to hopefully one day working with them again.
