Capri, Italy

Capri, you successfully stole my heart.

From the moment Derek and I stepped off the ferry from Naples, we both knew we were in love with this island. The air was filled with a crisp sea breeze, while the streets were all decked in beautiful bright, tropical colors that could liven up anyone’s spirits. What surprised us the most was how hospitable everyone seemed to be. From the bus driver taking us up the mountain to Capri to even the random street-side strangers we would ask directions, everyone had that warm, friendly welcome that I’ve grown accustomed to by being raised in the south.

And then this happened…

When we made our way to dinner, a restaurant near the southern-most part of the island, the waiter told us we should go down the path which lead to a beautiful overlook of Capri, and even the lighthouse we had visited earlier in the day. As soon as we got to the spot, my mind was blown by the beautiful portrait-like scenery my eyes were trying to focus on. From all the places I’ve been, this was definitely one for the books. Yet as soon as I turned around to Derek to see his reaction, he was on one knee.

Holding out a gorgeous blue velvety box with a ring enclosed, the only answer I could form when he asked those four words were, “Are you serious?!” As much as we’ve talked about this moment in the past, I never in a million years expected it to be at that very instance, in that spot in Capri.

As cliche as it may sound, it seems like only yesterday we were exploring China together while were studying abroad. And now to think three years later I’m officially engaged to my best friend is still so unreal to me. We’ve been able to do so many crazy, adventurous experiences together — from taking random road-trips to taking America by storm with our cross-country getaway, I honestly couldn’t imagine spending my days with anyone else, and just feel so truly blessed.

So, the next year definitely just got a whole lot busier for me. With the summer in the city, to graduation  and planning a wedding, 2013 is certainly proving to be whimsical ride, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way, and I cannot wait to share all the upcoming photos documenting everything!!

Don’t worry, I still want to post all my other pictures from our Italian trip, but I couldn’t resist skipping straight to these first!
